StockGuru Blog: Thoughts on why Vicor Technologies (Symbol: VCRT) is my first Level 1 Trade Idea for 2010

Vicor Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: VCRT)
LEVEL 1 TRADE IDEA
Good Morning Members,
I want to share with you some thoughts on why Vicor Technologies (Symbol: VCRT) is my first Level 1 Trade Idea for 2010.

When you see the passing of greats like Tim Russert at the relatively young age of 58, you know something is just not right with that. He died of sudden cardiac failure. Let’s first clarify the difference between cardiac failure and a “heart attack.” A heart attack is when something goes wrong with the heart. Some might call it a “plumbing issue.” Sudden cardiac death is caused by an arrhythmia issue.
What Vicor has is its proprietary PD2i® nonlinear algorithm and software to stratify patients:
* at risk of sudden cardiac death or autonomic dysfunction, and
* trauma victims in need of immediate lifesaving intervention.
The bottom line:
What if your doctor can hook you up for fifteen minutes to an EKG and get a report in near real time that determines your risk for a sudden cardiac death or autonomic dysfunction? You could be determined to be a candidate for a implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.
Second area… You are injured. You have some blood loss. Others were injured at the same time. You can be triaged more properly with the PD2i® nonlinear algorithm.
Saving lives:
Later I am going to outline a test by the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research. This is all about saving lives, and I know this example will show you the value.
Valuation:
First, a couple of unknown questions:
1. What is the value of the technology?
2. How soon will revenues really start?
In determining value here, I look at the total number of shares. Just 39.4 million as of September 30, 2009 (Source 10-Q). I, for one, see a great 2010 ahead for the company. It is obvious from the releases we have seen and the filings ahead that 2010 is likely to be a huge break-out year for Vicor Technologies. If we get the right answers to our two questions above we will likely see much price appreciation relative to the revenues.
I would be very interested in getting your take!
Thank you,
John Pentony
